Inbound Programmes

Inbound Programmes are carried out based on mutual agreement between institutions / universities. Students from any of our partner universities are eligible to study at UTAR through an exchange programme. Exchange students can pursue one trimester or up to one academic year for the Academic Exchange Programme or Internship Exchange Programme. The application and selection process for the exchange programme is run entirely by students’ home universities, thus prospective students should apply through their institution’s International Office in charge of the student exchange programmes.

UTAR Kampar Campus (Perak)

The UTAR Kampar Campus in Perak state is located off the North-South Highway, a 190-kilometres or 2-hour drive from Kuala Lumpur. 

Known as a former tin mining town, Kampar is a district within Perak's Kinta Valley, which is historically rich with tin reserves. Today, Kampar is a bustling education hub following the establishment of the Kampar Campus. 

The award-winning Kampar Campus is flanked by picturesque mountains and scenic lakes, offering a naturally peaceful environment that is conducive for learning teaching and research. 

In Kampar town, you can find many affordable accommodation, eateries, supermarket and other amenities in the Kampar township. There are bicycle shops to cater to the convenience of students whom preferred cycle to campus.





UTAR Sungai Long Campus (Selangor)

The UTAR Sungai Long Campus located in Bandar Sungai Long, a main township in Kajang, Selangor, is a state-of-the-art, purpose-built campus. Its location within the Bandar Sungai Long residential township near Kuala Lumpur city provides the best of both worlds. 

It offers the tranquil learning environment of a suburban setting and the conveniences of a big city such as plentiful housing, affordable eateries, banking facilities and diverse entertainment. 

To complement its teaching, learning and research experience, the campus is equipped with a library, laboratories, computers and medical equipment.

Fees & expenses 

The fees that applicants are responsible while on the exchange programme at UTAR are: 
  • round-way airfares 
  • local transport 
  • food and meals 
  • accommodation 
  • visa application
  • insurance
  • books and stationery 
  • other living expenses 
Applications are required to pay a caution fee for utilising UTAR library service which is refundable upon completion of the exchange programme provided no book damage charges or book loans are outstanding. 
Upon approval and acceptance, a student bill and offer letter will be sent to the international office of Host University. Student bill must be paid prior to commencement of the programme. 
For International applicants are compulsory to pay the EMGS visa application fees to UTAR prior to commencement to facilitate visa application. 



Inbound Academic Exchange Programme

Inbound Academic Exchange Programme is open to international students to pursue high quality academic programmes. At present, UTAR has a growing number of international students from around the world. 

We welcome more international students who embark their exchange journey in our university!


Requirements 

  1. Applicants must be full-time students of the partner institution or university with sufficient proficiency in the English Language.
  2. The duration of study must be one trimester or up to one academic year. Applicants are advised to consult their faculty and the international office staff prior to making any decisions on an exchange. 
  3. Applicants on an academic exchange may attend classes with or without seeking credit transfers for subjects taken at UTAR. Applicants need to fulfill all attendance and programme requirements at UTAR while ensuring that the requirements of the home institution are not breached during the exchange. 
  4. Applicants may join any international activities or programmes offered at UTAR:
    - Undergraduate and Postgraduate programmes
  5. Applicants should return to their home institution to complete their programme of study. The exchange programme allows a maximum of one academic year of exchange and the awarding of the degree is the home institution, not UTAR. 



Application procedures 

  1. All application for exchange programmes (academic study & internship) must be directed to the Centre for Extension Education (CEE) at UTAR. 
  2. The required application documents:
    a) A completed inbound application form with a passport size photo
    b) A letter of recommendation from Head of Department / Dean from Home Institution stating purpose and duration of study at UTAR
    c) A copy of Official Academic Transcripts (in certified English translation if the original language is not English)
    d) A copy of passport (only pages with passport number, photo, issuance and expiry date)
    The following additional documents are required for Student pass and Visa Application:
    a) A copy of passport size photo with size 4.5 cm x 3.5 cm (white background) – JPEG format 
    b) A letter of confirmation from Home Institution to prove that applicant is enrolled as a full-time student at Home Institution (sample letter)
    c) A copy of passport for all pages including blank pages (The passport must be valid for at least 18 months from the expected date of entry)
    d) Health Declaration form
  3. Health Examination New International Students are mandated to undergo a Post-arrival medical screening in accordance with the requirements of the Ministry of Education, Malaysia. Please note that all international students coming from or transited more than 12 hours through countries with risk of Yellow Fever transmission are required to produce the certificate of vaccination for VAL application purposes.

  4. Submission Deadlines
    - Admission for January Trimester 30th September (previous year)
    - Admission for May Trimester 28th February (current year)
    - Admission for October Trimester 30th June (current year)


Inbound Internship Programme

Inbound Internship Programme is open to students from our partner institutions or universities to undertake a period of internship at UTAR.


Requirements 

  1. Applicants can opt to undertake a period of internship at UTAR provided approval is sought at the home institution. The duration of internship can be two weeks up to one year and may also vary depending on the agreed duration between institutions. 
  2. No stipend or allowance for the duration of the internship at UTAR. Applicants must return to their home institution to continue and complete their programme of study or research. 
  3. The awarding of degree is by the home institution, not UTAR. 
  4. Written approvals and recommendation from the home institution and a brief of the internship must be provided during the application for the exchange programme. 
  5. Applicants pay for their return airfare, accommodation, transport, meals, stationery and other living expenses for the duration of their exchange programme at UTAR.
